15 Years Strong, Tegan and Sara Sell Out The Vic

Tegan and Sara, where do you even begin with these two? The duo have been around for 15 years + and they can still play a sold out show in Chicago! There are few pop culture things that I feel like I’ve “grown up” with, but those things do include Harry Potter and Tegan and Sara. I remember when their album So Jealous came out in 2004. I had never heard anything like it before. I was always that weird kid obsessed with new music growing up. I never really cared for what I heard on the radio, and I loved perusing music blogs online to find new things. Ever since then, I listened to every album of Tegan and Sara’s that came out.

Cory and I headed down to The Vic yesterday to grab an interview with Tegan and Sara as well as catch the show. In the interview they talked about how they never felt like Top 40 music represented who they were and how they could never find anything in the music that they connected to. They didn’t make Hearthrob to show it to Top 40, but I think their goal in Hearthrob was definitely to break ground in that area of music and make who they are, the causes they stand for, and their unique style of music known to a greater audience. Hearthrob is without a doubt very different than past Tegan and Sara stuff. It’s great in its own unique way…the songs are catchy and well written as almost every T&S song is, but definitely more pop than their alternative sound of the past.

I’m so excited for you guys to see this interview! Talk about smart, kind, well-spoken people. Every answer they gave, I was in awe. The show left me in the same amount of awe! T&S rocked out on Shure wireless and gave a stellar performance matched with the witty banter they’re known for. They used ULX-D® Digital Wireless, so all their guitars were wireless, which they said in the interview “has changed their lives.” It’s so great when you go to a show and you get an interview with a band who tells you that kind of stuff…how the products have literally changed their lives. Especially hearing that from two people who have been touring and playing shows for 15+ years, and since Shure has come on board it’s changed their musical lives forever. That is so cool to hear.
