Are you ready for Wynonna?

Camera ready?  Check. Audio?  Check. Video? Looks good. I am ready for Wynonna. We greet each other halfway down the hall with a big hug.  I escort her to her spot on the couch and she says: “You better have some good questions for me…”   I smile and think  “I am READY for Wynonna.” […]

Skillet – "Rise" and Connect

This was a new, cool experience! Christian Rock Artists and newly signed Shure Artists Skillet recently released a new concept album called “Rise.” A week beforehand, the group held 2 VIP events, the first in Nashville and the second in Chicago.  Fans had the opportunity to purchase tickets to a listening party/dinner/acoustic concert experience. Over […]

Dream Theater Drummer Mike Mangini asks…..

How many Shure Mics can you identify in this shot? Just this morning, I received an email from Shure Artist Mike Mangini with a link to a video he made. He talks about the Shure mics he used to capture the tracks for the new yet-to-be-released Dream Theater record.  It was a pleasant surprise to […]

CMA Fest – Part 2

I’ve packed up all the mics, sent most of them back to Shure HQ (Thanks Brooke & Richard!) and now it’s time to fill you in on the rest of the week at CMA Music Fest. Rain!   It always rains during this awesome week of performances.  Does that scare the crowds away?  No, but […]

CMT’s/CMA Music Fest: The MOST exciting week in Nashville!

Right now, as I type this, there is hardly a street corner  you can stand on in downtown Nashville where you can’t hear music.  The hotels are packed, there are cowboy hats everywhere, and the city is electrified from morning to late at night. It all kicked off with the CMT Music Awards in the […]

What discontinued Shure Mic would you bring back and why?

In our frequent travels as Shure Artist Relations representatives, we often hear from many engineers “You guys should really bring _____ mic back.”  If you look back in Shure’s history, there are some amazing designs but also some wonderful sounding mics. Some people want them back because they just look cool and others because they […]

Ongoing Series: The SM7B and the Artists that Use It

The SM7B is my favorite Shure microphone. Not only is it extremely versatile, but it is inexpensive. It has been used on so many Grammy Award winning recordings and to this day, remains to be a favorite among artists and engineers alike, both live and in the studio. It was originally called SM7 and then […]

Shure Dominates at 2013 ACMA’s

From the amazing Shure Artists we work with to the outstanding performance of the products they rely on, Shure was again the most requested at this years’ 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. Held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, with several segments over at the Orleans Arena, Las Vegas was again overrun by […]

Nashville gets the Blues w/Jonny & Buddy

I never thought I would say “bitter cold” and Nashville in the same sentence.  There it is and yes, it was. However, there was a warmth of anticipation in my heart as I headed up the street towards the War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville to catch 2 amazing Blues artists – Buddy Guy and Jonny […]

Shure at Winter NAMM 2013

I have been to the NAMM show in Anaheim about 17 times now.   Part of me gets nervous because it is such a busy show.  A bigger part of me is excited to see and talk with a lot of the artists we work with.  I also look forward to meeting many new artists. This […]

Natalie Grant & Charlotte Gambill – Dare to Be

This was billed as an all female event!  It’s been a while though since the last time I had the privilege of seeing Natalie Grant perform live.  So when she came in for rehearsal the day before, I had no reservations about asking her if I could attend the show.  She was more than happy […]

Diverse City in Music City – TobyMac Rocks Nashville

I had just flown from a great visit to Shure HQ’s back into Nashville.  I could have headed home, but I do not get a chance to see TobyMac and the Diverse City Band that often.  The Shure PT Cruiser made its way over to the Bridgestone Arena. There were several artists that had opened […]

Shure at the American Country Awards

I’m one of the many people who can visit Las Vegas and never gamble a single penny.  That’s right…I even passed up the penny machines!    I know, it felt weird not even putting in a dollar to try my luck but I felt lucky enough just being out there for my task at hand…visiting with […]

Grammy Noms Concert- Nashville

For the first time in Nashville, the Grammy Nominations event was held at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.  It was great to be able to attend this event and see some crew members as well as the Shure Artists that attended this year. What Shure Artists, you say?   OK, so here’s the rundown: fun., […]

The Who’s Very First Nashville performance

Can you believe it?  Neither could I, but it’s true.  I was going to witness the first Nashville show that Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey have ever played together.  Roger had performed 2 shows in town about a year or so ago with his own band, but not with Pete. Opening this show is a […]

Shure at the CMA’s

Year after year, so many artists come into the Country Music Awards and request to use Shure products front and center.  Last week’s show saw a notable increase in the number of Shure UHF-R wireless transmitters on lead vocals – 16 of the 21 performances! Not only this, our PSM 1000 system was exclusively relied […]

Memorable moments in Artist Relations

After finishing my last post about how I got into Artist Relations, I thought about all of the wonderful moments I’ve been able to be a part of as a result of being in this job.   Other associates often remind me to look back at what I have done so far and believe me – […]

Dailey & Vincent, ULXD, and The Ryman…

Frankly, it doesn’t get much better than this!    One of the hottest (if not THE hottest) vocal groups in Bluegrass came through Nashville during their constant touring cycle to perform for an installment of Bluegrass Nights.  I was able to make it down for their soundcheck, just in time to hear their amazing harmonies […]
