…and she certainly has a way with them. Not only in songs, but in interviews as well.
A little back story:
It was a cold, windy morning on February 26 in Niles, Illinois, as a white passenger van pulled up to the employee entrance at 5800 W. Touhy Ave., otherwise known as Shure Headquarters. Kacey, her band, and her FOH Engineer were greeted by the below-zero wind chill (welcome to Chicago) and shivered their way inside for a quick tour.
We gave them a warm welcome and escorted them to the beautifully appointed S.N. Shure Theater. Next we visited a few mic testing areas, went up the glass elevator to the seventh floor to meet the president of Shure and finished with a visit to our anechoic and RF testing chambers. Along the way, several associates discussed with them the principles of Shure as it pertains to our products, our focus, and our associates. After the tour concluded, they made their way back to Allstate Arena for that evening’s performance.
It had been a long time since I got to join my friend and photographer Paul Natkin for a gig. Paul picked me up and we drove down to get set up for the interview and some live shots. Kacey’s crew were so organized and their hospitality was so spot-on.
Later that night, as we sat down to interview Kacey after her performance, you will see towards the end of our discussion below that the tour earlier that morning had a noted impact on her.
