October is right around the corner and Fall is upon us. It’s the best time of the year, in my opinion. You’ve got leaves changing color, perfect temperatures, bonfires, and with that comes s’mores (the worlds greatest creation). There’s Halloween and Thanksgiving, fall festivals, apple cider, hay rides, pumpkin carving, caramel apples, flannels…the list is endless. In celebration of the best season to ever exist, I’ve put together a little playlist of songs to get you ready to enter the fall season! These are singles from some of Fall 2013’s most anticipated albums! Check them out and get ready for a great season of music!
My Top 3 Must Haves Albums of Fall 2013:
Haim — Days Are Gone
This is a much anticipated album from the trio of sisters. Haim has put out a couple EP’s before this, but been working really hard to perfect this full length debut before they released it. Voted by the people in NME Magazine, Haim was named the Best New Festival Artist of 2013. Many people saw them for the first time at festivals across the states and abroad. I’m super excited for this release. I think they’ve got a unique sound to bring to the table, unlike anything else out there right now. Days Are Gone is out September 30th.
Lorde –Pure Heronie
This girl is slayin’ it right now. Pretty unknown up until a few months ago, this 16 year old from New Zealand has made her way into the top spots on the Billboard Hot 100. She was featured early in September on the front of Billboard Magazine. The article gave a more in-depth look into the teen’s path to fame as well as her desire to stay as “real” as possible and to keep her mystery. She’s definitely got that going for her. Lorde has a certain edge that draws people to her. I think all of America is awaiting this album. Pure Heroine will be released September 30th.
Amos Lee –Mountain of Sorrow, Rivers of Song
I’ve always been a fan of Amos Lee, but really preferred his self-titled album out of 2005 over other works. That album was just a very soft, acoustic, relaxed album, very much easy listening. However, after hearing his first single off his upcoming album, his new sound is definitely perking up my ears. He’s got a lot of soul in the track “The Man Who Wants You.” Now, Amos Lee has always had soul, but it’s been more of a soft, gentle folk-rock kind of soul. Lee has no reservations with this single, letting loose with some piano and electric guitar, and showing his vocal capabilities. I’m really excited to see if the rest of the album follows the single’s footsteps. Mountain of Sorrow, Rivers of Song will be released October 8th.
Enjoy these preview tracks to albums out this Fall!
