Juno Award Nominees Highlight – Pop Album of the Year
We are a little over a month away from the Juno Awards which will be celebrated at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, MB, Canada, on Sunday March 30th. As the AR guy in charge of keeping an eye on artist activity to the north of the U.S., the Juno Awards is a must-watch for me.
What are the Juno Awards, you ask? Well, similar to the GRAMMY® Awards, the Juno Awards are presented annually but are focused on Canadian musical artists and bands to acknowledge their artistic and technical achievements in all aspects of music.
As you may know from reading my previous posts, I love discovering and sharing new music, so I’m always anxious to see which Canadian artists and bands are nominated for this prestigious award. In the spirit of introducing my friends to new music, for the next few weeks up until the broadcast, I will be highlighting the nominees for some of the most popular categories and sharing my favorites to win.
This week we will start with the nominees for Pop Album of the Year. And the nominees are…
- Wild Life by Hedley
- To Be Loved by Michael Bublé
- Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke
- Heartthrob by Tegan and Sara
- R.E.V.O. by Walk Off the Earth
Although these are all great albums, especially R.E.V.O. by Walk Off the Earth, I’m going to stick with my favorite identical twins Tegan and Sara’s album Heartthrob as my favorite to win Pop Album of the Year. Next time we will take a listen to the nominees for Rock Album of the Year.
