Why Do We Do This?

The past few weeks have been an absolute blur. Looking back on it now, I wonder if I may have missed anything and did I do it all the right way? When the dust settled, I had been to about eight shows and collected loads of interviews and still images along the way. I added to my swag collection as well, most notably my Atlas Genius branded Mophie case for my iPhone. So, here I am back at the office, sifting through the videos and images and making sure I’ve followed up with the people I ran into during the weeks past. I think I’ve got it all covered… for now.

Somewhere in the middle of the shows, interviews and catching up with old friends from the road, I received an email. It made me stop and think for a moment and added validation to this whole artist relations gig. The email in question came from the FOH engineer of new endorsers Baroness…

Cory,

I would like to thank you and express how much the new gear is working for Baroness. The mics have been nothing but wonderful and have helped out tremendously with the overall tone, sonic quality and performance. The KSM9′s and KSM32′s and 313′s have especially brought out the guitar and vocal nuances and embellishments never heard before with our previous mics. The 98amp’s are making Sebastian our drummer sound like John Bonham!  They are great on the toms and bottom snare!

The in ears were the most skeptical piece of gear for the guys as they have never used them before in a live setting. So far I have heard nothing but good things from them on the isolation, and precision they offer for them, they can actually hear what they are doing on stages night after night, and they have never had that before with the inconsistencies of monitor rigs, types, rooms, and everything else that touring can throw at you.

Overall everyone is really stoked and happy to be moving in the right direction with the new gear!

Thank you again!

THAT is why I do this. Yes, the images and video interviews are great and very entertaining, but to get the validation that you’ve helped a band sound and play better as a unit night after night… that’s what keeps me coming back for more. Not only does putting the Shure product in place help the band, but it also lets the fans hear the best show from their favorite band. Man, that’s just pretty damn cool.
