In our last episode, Brooklyn-based Matt & Kim were hunkered down in a studio in Atlanta to begin work on the follow-up to 2009’s Grand. Looking for a change in the weather and chaos of NYC, Matt & Kim figured Atlanta would be the perfect fit for normalcy and a little winter warm-up… So far, it has snowed, hailed and a zebra escaped from the circus and ran down the highway. Just like home.

Well, the duo did find time to get some things done and try out some new tricks with their brand new Shure mics. Matt and I talked about some of their unusual mic techniques, including the KSM353 on the trunk of the car, to capture the boomin’ system of the studio intern… can’t wait to hear that!

Matt & Kim are gonna play a few shows before finishing up the album, so catch them if they come to your town and let me know what you think of the new stuff! – Cory
