NAMM 2015 All Access Pass

This year, the pro audio hall is buzzing at The NAMM® Show (the trade show for pro-audio and musical instrument dealers.)

“I’ve never seen the Shure booth so crowded so early on the first day,” said Mark Brunner, senior director of global brand management at Shure. “It’s indicative of the trend that musicians need to be embracing all of the recording gear and audio products because it’s part of their creative process now.”

It’s a great show, and in case you can’t be here, here are 10 things you should know.

1. Old is new

Shure MOTIV Microphones at NAMMMOTIV Digital Microphones blend Shure heritage with new technology. The MV5 looks like the classic Green Bullet (520) in the front and the 730B Uniplex in the back. The MV51 is styled like the Model 51, only with a modern touch panel. Both include classic grilles and vintage accents like stamped, riveted labels.

2. Your iPhone just became a mobile studio

It works with the free MOTIV recording app that lets you adjust gain, the DSP settings, and compression. You can even change the pickup pattern!

3. Fade to black
