Because it’s the one thing in the world that all humans, even those isolated from technology, utilize an create. With lyrics or without, we communicate through it.

Its something that reguardless of any physical or mental impairment, any human can enjoy. I have seen a man with out hands play guitar. Someone unable to talk can still speak through an instrument. A deaf man feels the vibrations of sound and a deaf man can still compose (Mozart). An autistic individual can be improved and find endless happiness in music. A blind man can see through music. What better thing in the world is there!?

We have given chords names, we identify what an A minor is or an E… And through each note, we expirance emotion. A musician collaborates these notes together in a way that fits what they think in their minds, what they feel in their hearts; in ways that one sometimes cannot achieve with plain words and they manage to basically hand an intangible emotion from their heart into the heart of another, something technology has not yet achived.

Music can make a crowd of people move. It can make a crowd stop dead in their tracks. it can heal, and it can break. It can be intoxicating. It can change you outlook for better… Or for worse, and that in itself is power unrivaled. It has such strong ties and capabilities, that some countries have been known to try and ban it from their populations, knowing it could be an undoing of control. Some people even have the ability to make it control others. The Catholic Church once banned the use of minor chords in holy music, because of the melancholy feel they possessed! Music is a weapon that can be wielded in many ways. From woodwinds to percussion to synths to strings… It’s the very thing that we cannot do without. It was born inside us and is all around us.

Music was here before we were here, as old as time and stands to last just as long… We merely discovered it. I believe it will still echo in the void, long after we are gone.

Why am I passionate about music? The better question would is, how could I not be??
