I’ve been very lucky to have the opportunity to meet many amazing artists working Artist Relations for Shure, but this weekend I had a very special honor. I got to meet and interview the “Godmother of Punk” herself, the legendary Patti Smith. We met after her soundcheck at the Park West in Chicago where she was to play a benefit concert for the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless. We spoke about her new memoir named “Just Kids,” which recounts her youth and her relationship with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, whom she promised to share their story of love and art. We also spoke about her next projects as well as her long love of Shure’s SM58 microphone. Stay tuned for the full interview coming soon. – Nelson
