Slash & Company in Chicago

Sept 8, 2010 – Chicago

It’s always a treat to go back “Home.”  I was born in Chicago and Shure HQ’s is there as well.  On this particular trip, I was lucky enough to be able to go out and see Slash and his new group open up for Billy Idol at The Riviera downtown.  It’s also a chance to catch up with the #1 photographer in Chicago, Mr. Paul Natkin.

I arrived shortly before Paul to be able to catch up with some of the crew and get an up close shot of Slash’s rig, complete with 2 KSM313 ribbon mics.

FOH engineer Martin Walker had been out with Judas Priest earlier this year and is now at the helm for Slash.  He had a great mix going on for the hordes of fans that showed up later that night.  Slash and band performed songs off of his latest solo release as well as some GNR fav’s.

The night ended with some fabulous Indian food just a short walk from the venue, with Martin joining Paul and I.  YUUUUUMMMYYY!!
