I’m not going to lie. It’s a dreary, cold fall day here at Shure HQ, and I could use a pick-me-up. Thankfully, I work with a slew of talented musicians whose summer 2012 performances were captured on video, so I can watch and listen whenever I need a little sunshine.

Eat to the Beat is an outdoor lunchtime concert series put on by Shure associates for Shure associates. Sometimes there is ice cream involved. Always, there is ROCK. But there’s jazz too, and blues, and world music, and…well, see / hear for yourselves in this sampling. Enjoy!

Pack it up

I just got a package back with some gear lent out for a one-off. After taking it out of the package – which was filled with packing peanuts, mind you – I had this:

Pros: My gear has never been so well protected, could probably make the PA821 inside the bottom one bounce.

Cons: Getting through large-bubble wrap surrounding small-bubble wrap takes some mighty careful box-cutter handiwork. Better dial 9-1 just in case.

Well, here I go. Carry on.

UPDATE: No lost fingers or sections of fingers. Combiner was actually a PA421, increasing likelihood of success in combiner-bounce hypothesis (less weight).

We can have an interesting job at times. It’s more than just interesting on the artist relations front…especially if you happen to be nerdy, which I can be.

I was rummaging through some old photos and came across the two below. The day that analog TV went off the air (Friday, 12 July 2009) some of us got together and huddled around a frequency scanner to watch the last of the analog transmissions radiate away in to space.

Now you see them...
