Twenty One Pilots joins the Shure Artist roster

I’m on vacation in early October and I check my emails (I know, shame on me). There’s one from my brother who forwarded one from a long time family friend:

“Wanted to share with you my new favorite band.  They are from Ohio – the nicest guys on the planet.  Their music will freak you out-very different.  My Audi/Bose system is so tight with these guys-think I’ve lost some of my hearing.  The link below is to their acoustic (if you can call it that) session at a Warner Bros studio in LA.  Haven’t put their latest CD down in 6 weeks.   They are going to be huge.” – Gary

I clicked on the link and this was the video I watched:

Being a drummer, I was immediately drawn to Josh’s unique approach to playing.  Tyler’s rapping was very rhythmic.  Alright, I’m hooked…gotta see more.

I went to this video next:

WOW!  Totally different style of music.  Loving this.

Finally, another complete switch in style:

So I do some digging and reach out to their manager.  Turns out they are playing in Nashville the next week and have already been talking about working with Shure!

I meet with the band who are all about the gear and knowing how it works.  Then I meet with Ben, the groups Front of House Engineer.  He takes me around the stage – they already have Shure gear on tour!   PSM900, UHF-R, and more. We then sit down to talk about the gear they might want to supplement.  In the middle of the conversation, the tour manager comes up to Ben and mentions they need something. Ben replies “I’ll take care of that in a few minutes, I’m having my “dream meeting.”

The Cannery Ballroom in Nashville is packed, the crowd is signing along and they put on an amazing, interactive show!  This night could not have gone any better.  Everyone involved was super nice to deal with and these guys are on their way up.  Let’s all enjoy the flight.

Welcome aboard guys!
