Ladies & Gentlemen… The National

It was 4 am on October 11, 2013 as I brushed my teeth, thinking about how this was all going to go down. In just a few hours I would be in Kansas City filming a day in the life of one of the biggest bands in the world. Less than a week ago, I received an email from Tom Wironen, manager of Shure endorsers, The National. It started out as an opportunity to go spend some time in the studio with the band as they worked on material for a new album due out early next year. Within a few emails back and forth, it was decided that I would be on a flight to Kansas City to join the band at The Starlight Theatre for one of the last few US shows leading up to their European tour. Hauling a few pieces of both audio and visual recording equipment and accompanied by our resident photographer Paul Natkin, we dove right in and tried to capture a little bit of everything, the biscuits and the beans.
